Hello, and welcome to Silchester Manor Day Nursery…. the premier day nursery in Maidenhead.

"The relationships we build with parents are as important as the relationships we build with our children. These relationships create a 'home from home' atmosphere and help children to feel safe and secure, leaving them free to immerse themselves in play."

Laura Doyle
Nursery Manager
Hello, my name is Laura Doyle and I am the Manager here at Silchester Manor.
I hold a Foundation Degree in Early Years and I am currently studying my BA Honours Degree in Children’s Development and Learning. I have worked at Silchester Manor since 2005, and have enjoyed watching the nursery flourish and become a welcoming and well-established nursery. Whilst studying for my qualifications I have built knowledge and experience which I really enjoy putting into practice – and in particular, reflecting on our practices and continually improving our care.
Here at Silchester Manor, we provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment that encourages all children to achieve their full potential. We embrace a ‘learning through play’ philosophy, which enables children to explore, learn and develop whilst having fun in a secure and stimulating environment.

We occupy a large, refurbished Victorian nursery in Maidenhead, with wonderful outdoor play space.
It’s hard to find a day nursery in Maidenhead - or the surrounding area - with wonderful facilities for both indoor and outdoor play. Situated in acres of beautiful grounds, grassed areas and woodlands, our Maidenhead nursery has both, and we’ve incorporated lots of information about our facilities on our Our Nursery page, and lots of photos of our children at play throughout our website. Thank you to our parents for granting their permission for us to share these photos.

Our philosophy and practice
We’ve taken care to explain our approach to childcare in some detail on our Caring For Your Child page. I think that this is particularly important, as not every Maidenhead nursery operates in the same way. We explain our ‘Key Person Approach’ and how this enables us to know both you and your child really well – and better meet your child’s needs. We also explain how our nursery and outdoor environments contribute to your child’s development with us.

Here at Silchester Manor we have a great partnership with parents – working closely to ensure that we are meeting their individual needs. I strongly believe in creating warm, caring and friendly environments, where children and their families feel cared for, valued and loved - and where they can genuinely feel at home. As children’s primary educators, the relationships we build with parents are as important as the relationships we build with our children. These relationships create a ‘home from home’ atmosphere and help children to feel safe and secure, leaving them free to immerse themselves in play.

Useful Information
We’ve tried to include as much information as possible here on our website, and you’ll find much of it on our Parent Information page. I believe we’re the only Maidenhead nursery to open from 7.30am – 6.00pm, Monday – Friday for 51 weeks of the year (we close during Christmas week) and offer a variety of sessions to suit most family’s individual needs at competitive and inclusive prices. We also offer FREE childcare places for ALL 3 and 4 year old children (and many 2 year olds), and include free nappies and wipes and nutritious ‘home cooked’ lunches and teas – the details of which are all explained on the Parent Information page.

The best day nursery in Maidenhead
Of course it’s natural to be proud of your nursery when you work with a team who strive to provide wonderful care to children every day - and I’m no exception. I truly believe that Silchester Manor is the best nursery in Maidenhead. I hope that our parent testimonials bear this out - and you may enjoy reading our latest OFSTED Report, in which they rate our nursery ‘Good’.

Finally, while we regard Silchester Manor as a Maidenhead nursery, we also have many parents who use us from as far afield as Windsor, Slough, Langley, Ascot, Henley-on-Thames, Marlow, High Wycombe, Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield – as well as from local villages such as Taplow. You’ll find a map showing our location on our Contact Us page - as well as our contact details. If we look as though we could provide a childcare solution for you, then we’d love to see you at the nursery and show you around - so please give us a call on 01628 778890 or pop in to see us, and meet our team.
